Corporate Controller

Diligent Delivery Systems is seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller to lead our Accounting Department. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will manage all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This pivotal role demands a CPA with significant experience in financial management and a proven ability to drive performance in fast-growing companies. The Controller will work closely with the CFO and CEO and will have a high level of visibility within the organization.

This role is in-office at our corporate headquarters in Houston, TX.  No remote or hybrid work options.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(The below listed duties are not all inclusive. This position must also perform other duties as assigned.):


Management

Develop and maintain a comprehensive system of accounting policies and procedures.

– Oversee outsourced functions, including annual audits, taxes, and state licenses.

– Lead the accounting department, including designing an effective organizational structure.

– Recruit, train, manage, and, if necessary, discipline and dismiss accounting personnel.

– Assist the CEO and CFO with confidential due diligence for potential acquisitions and manage integration and consolidation of acquired entities.

– Oversee accounting operations, including training and optimizing accounting personnel and resources.

– Manage accounting document storage and retention.

 

Reporting

  • Close monthly books and maintain all accounting data within Microsoft Dynamics / Great Plains
  • Prepare and Issue timely and accurate financial statements
  • Coordinate the annual audit and debt compliance financial reporting
  • Assist the CFO with production of the annual budget
  • Analyze budget variances and report significant issues to management.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed

 

Treasury, Tax, Compliance, Operations & Other

  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits
  • Assist the CFO in monitoring compliance with debt covenants
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Ensure timely payments, including employee timecards, sales commissions, and vendor payments.
  • Collaborate with outside tax accountants for tax payments
  • Recommend and implement optimal treasury and cash management strategies
  • Manage banking relationships and cash management functions.

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains preferred.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience as a Controller.
  • Demonstrated management experience leading a team of direct reports.
